Crackling energy, colorful characters, supportive fellow urban sketchers, intriguing eats, there you have it folks: The Minnesota State Fair, even on a rainy and drizzly day was packed and super active, offering a budding illustrator like myself a bonanza of visual exploration and discoveries. I didn't know what to expect, however, me thinks I just created another addiction! Behold my favorite moments:

TWISTED SISTERS

10:30 am - I do a taste test on a popular and deadly delicious snack after documenting its brief existence before disappearing into my belly :

ARMILLARY SPHERE:

12:30 pm - I'm drawn to a curious sculptural object that reminds me of an armillary sphere, an astrolab and astronomical mysteries. It was covered with what I assumed were artificial flowers but I skipped that part of the object in my sketch.

2:30 pm - I finally venture outside in the drizzling rain to capture this scene in front of Cloud Forest Coffee while seating on a wooden bench facing it. At my back a band was belting out popular tunes so loudly, it should have distracted me.

Not a chance. I was focused, totally engrossed and locked in:

Public Announcement: This blog post is part of a collection of 354+ posts from my original Wordpress blog "Dreaming Into Being"  library. I've now retired and migrated it to “Wander & Paint,” my new blog posts at the United Wanderlust art shop.  As time allows, I will be reviewing, editing, condensing, updating and releasing a number of these blog posts but not all of them.

Some posts require more precision surgery than others. I'll also probably be publishing new posts as the muse wills it and father time allows. This whole process may take a while but I think these blog post serve as great documentation of my process and reminds me of certain milestones. So, most of them will be made available again- at some point.
