For example, here's how the process might work for creating art around your travel memories:

• You provide a selection of your top 5-10 clear, high-quality photograph you've taken from your travels and escapades. In these photos, there's something, an experience, an idea, a mood or an object you wish to capture and remember. Watch the quick demo below:

• Note: I don't paint realistic figures or portraits. Any pieces that calls for portraits or figures are painted in a highly abstracted or stylized style similar to the samples below.

You'll have the amazing opportunity to experience being part of the creative process when we discuss via email:

• the aspects of our work that resonate with you
• as well as the mood you're seeking,
• your travel experience,
• colors you enjoy the most,
• subject matter
• and the space the art will live in,
• plus the purpose for the commission.

• When applicable, the original artwork will ship via Fed Ex or USPS, with a tracking number for you to follow your art, as the painting makes its way to you.

• Custom artwork is typically shipped flat and unframed.

SAMPLE DESIGN PROCESS

• Commissions take about 3 -10 weeks [more or less] depending on (among other things) size, type of commission, design calendar schedule, media used, drying times and the availability of materials ordered or on hand.
  

• Packaging, shipping and handling are additional. All custom artwork is typically shipped unframed via Fedex or USPS priority mail.

• Framing and matting are not offered at this time as a service.

HIGHLIGHTS

A 50% first installment with a signed letter of agreement gets the process started. This signals to us we can confidently block out design time in the design schedule, making that time automatically unavailable to other folks.

The remaining balance is due upon completion of each scheduled milestone payment to help you keep track of your project’s progress.

• Turn around time is three [3] to ten [10]  weeks  for one painting depending on the complexity of the project, type of commission, schedules, media used, drying times, the availability of materials ordered etc.

• If you need your artwork sooner, we can sometime move you ahead of the queue. Rush fees are 100% of the final fee.

• A single flat fee per project based on a weekly or daily fee. Includes:
• materials
• concept research
• design
• reference photos
• labor etc.

• Not included are things like per diems, travel expenses, changes to the painting beyond those covered in the original proposal etc. These tend to be rare and considered on a project by project basis, as they are requested or occur.  Priced hourly.

• Hourly fees* - occur for certain types of projects only:

• on-site projects or site-specific ones such as murals, door art, visual reportage documentation, urban sketching events etc. (per diem rates)
• change orders
• and anything else beyond items already included in the original proposal and letter of agreement. 
• hourly fees are calculated per hour in these types of cases and are charged at $100/hour.

The physical Original Art is the property of the client who commissions an original illustration or painting.

Whereas the client is granted the right to own the artwork commissioned, the ARTIST retains and owns ALL of the copyright  of the art and its derivatives.

Additionally, if you'd like to receive custom archival prints of your artwork for personal use, let’s talk. Print prices varies depending on the size of the order.
