Epic Race To The Finish Line

Under the direction of dynamo muralist and illustrator Melodee Strong as lead designer, us ecstatic and overjoyed MCAD students and Little Earth interns, worked collaboratively and raced to the finish line to complete this epic, 400 square feet, colorful mural on the Greenway in two weekends

There were consequences - i.e equally epic aches and pains - but there you have it, ladies and gents, the conclusion of this chapter which started back in June.

Mural Illustration

My Humble Design Contributions

A number of the design ideas came from three young women interns from the Native American Little Earth community. As illustrators, we just did the best we could to give them form and turn them into viable concepts.

Each area symbolized something significant as women and/ or as individuals. In addition to the turtle and the general idea of the baby (not the final beautiful version), the concepts I created that made it into the final layout were these two which anchors the painting at both ends:

Beautiful Moments

Between design and painting, this exhilarating project came to be because we went a bit more realistic with this piece than the more stylized Treehouse, it felt like it took longer when in fact it may have taken less time. Here are a few of my favorite moments:

Other murals I created:

  • Minneapolis: Treehouse Records
  • Turkey: The Zen of Awakenings
  • Turkey: Le Reve Des Fleurs
  • Guatemala: Painting Dragons

This may take a long time but they will be available again little by little.
