All of the watercolor mix-media art journal studies dedicated to the "Everyday Life" series actually were led to this final painting. In hindsight, I realized for someone who could never really embrace still life paintings I sure -accidentally - created my own rendition of one with "Pantry":

In truth, I was too distracted and way too much fun testing and drinking most of these drinks - except for the Barr's one- to think of them as potential props for an odd still life composition.
To tie it all together, I pulled one of the least common colors on the can and turned into the background. However, one of my instructors said that the green color distracted her from the background.
I have to confess though, I strongly believe that this exact color choice is what carried the entire piece! What can I say...Les goût et les couleurs ne se discute pas! French for Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Little did that instructor know that about a year later, that the painting she found wanting would be selected for exhibit at the highly sought after juried exhibition "Made at MCAD,"!
The original water-based mix-media painting is roughly 16" x 10". The mediums I used were amount of gouache, sprinkled with pen, ink, watercolor and charcoal. Other pieces in the series include all the art journal studies and the later pieced added to the collection:
