Coup De Coeur: Fantastic Art #7 - Valentine Hearts

chalk chalk board art drawings Hand-lettering Valentine Day

Now… this one I’m not too sure about.

No, scrap that. In fact, I know exactly why I feel something may be missing because it's not hitting me quite the same way all the other pieces in series has so far.

Atmospheric, expressive artwork, travel art, chalk art, illustration, visual art, fine art, timeless art, colorful, Chalk board art, line art, colorful pastels, Advertising art, expressive artwork, graphic art, Hand-lettering.

Let me explain.

My creative mind relishes intricacy, story, movement and layered design. This piece in contrast, in its minimalist simplicity, makes me feel as if there should be more design-directions or artistic experiments that could have been explored.

For someone who loves who also enjoys minimalist styles, this examples  leaves me a little bit unfulfilled but - that's just me. Someone else may totally resonate with it.

On the other hand, it's enough that a human being was thoughtful enough to take the time to share loving intentions with complete strangers who may, mind you, never enter theif store. Sometimes it's the intention that counts.

By the way, Bob Slate of Harvard Square on Brattle Street, is one of my favorite Harvard Square stationery store. I absolutely love their journal collections which I discovered during one of my slow travel Boston explorations. I distinctly, remember  I buying one of my first, highly decorative mini-journals there. I just coming back for more.

A picture speaks a thousand words. So short of doing my own version of a Valentine chalkboard design (not my forte), here are some fantastic inspirations collected from around the web.

Each has indescribable visual complexities of the kind that fills my creative well for some mysterious reason. At the risk of waxing poetic, either the design concepts blew my mind or the decorative patterns stitched the design together so harmoniously, it just stokes the embers of my own creative fires.

Put simply, they just do it for me. Since I haven't had a chance to ask for permission to post the images here, I’ll share the links instead.

  1. Burlandlace (Available on Creative Market)
  2. Hearts on a String
  3. Valentine Day

There’s a real opportunity to create cool designs in chalk and this method of creating ephemeral art really fascinates me. However, I have to admit, it was a bit difficult finding designs I liked that included valentine hearts as a central theme. Maybe what appeals to me is just not  that popular. Not sure.

All I know is some artist out there who can wield pastel and chalk like pro should be designing more of these...Alas, that artist isn't me.

Public Announcement: This blog post is part of a collection of 354+ posts from my original Wordpress blog "Dreaming Into Being"  library. I've now retired and migrated it to “Wander & Paint,” my new blog post at the United Wanderlust art shop.  As time allows, I will be reviewing, editing, condensing, updating and releasing a number of these blog posts but not all of them.

Some posts require more precision surgery than others. I'll also probably be publishing new posts as the muse wills it and father time allows. This whole process may take a while but I think these blog post serve as great documentation of my process and reminds me of certain milestones. So, most of them will be made available again- at some point.
