The Wild Dining Illustrated series is about exploring, in watercolor, what delicious recipes created with forage food could look like.

In the beginning, I racked my brain and dived deep into research rabbit hole trying find usable reference pics. In retrospect, finding a needle in a haystack might have been easier.

Fortunately, after a while and a lot of persistence, I ended up drawing inspiration from a number of sources to find easy recipes. I wanted two things out these recipes:

1)  Be able to test them in my own kitchen to taste them for myself (at some point in the future) and see if the dish will turn out well.

2) Spark creative ideas to end up with a series of delicious-looking and beautiful paintings in

Funny thing is, since then, I found on Amazon a number of promising cookbooks with intriguing photography. I have a feeling my own cookbook collection will be growing soon...

In the meantime, this colorful and reasonably yummy infographic, showcases exactly  the types of recipes I started to uncover on this wild food journey.

As I stumble upon these fantastic recipes, I love to draw upon my own interest in tinkering, cooking and baking in the kitchen  and my professional culinary experiences, to assess potential deliciousness just by scanning the ingredients. So far... so good!

Public Announcement: This blog post is part of a collection of 354+ posts from my original Wordpress blog "Dreaming Into Being"  library. I've now retired and migrated it to “Wander & Paint,” my new blog post at the United Wanderlust art shop.  As time allows, I will be reviewing, editing, condensing, updating and releasing a number of these blog posts but not all of them.

Some posts require more precision surgery than others. I'll also probably be publishing new posts as the muse wills it and father time allows. This whole process may take a while but I think these blog post serve as great documentation of my process and reminds me of certain milestones. So, most of them will be made available again- at some point.
